You know what causes really intensely powerful vibrations in the ground? Rocket launches. And do you know what really powerful vibrations in the ground cause in coastal wetlands? Liquifaction.
SpaceX has completely lost their grip on reality and all of us are going to pay the price in various ways as they try to build impossible dangerous things.
i don't understand your use of the phrase "has lost their grip on reality..."
lost? like, they USED to have such a grip? i just don't understand what you're implying...

@sundogplanets And that’s before the coming innundation, and the rise of wet-bulb temps to the point at which human bodies can’t cool themselves multiple times a year.

@sundogplanets ... So, they built a launch platorm that will bury itself in the mud, and cause who knows what damage to the surrounding ecosystems in the process, and possibly set of some landslides or similar in a radious around it?

@sundogplanets but we know the star quarterback to the football team (not including me) and we are so caught up in some pop star's love life- I know this. And if you really want to have yourself set straight on the important things- catch up on anything plastic. Autism caused by vaccines? Meh. Try ingesting and breathing in and drinking micro plastics for about 60 years... Please, don't kill the messenger(s).

@sundogplanets I lived in Louisiana for 10 years. It's one of the most right-wing places on Earth. They're getting what they voted for. I feel sympathy only for the poor animals and plants that are stuck there. You couldn't pay me to move back there.

@jappel @sundogplanets that's only a problem for the poors and the outdoors. People who live in boxes and have money to pay for electricity and AC will be fine, especially if they have the money for very large boxes.

@sundogplanets Louisiana is like Hyperloop. Just some fictional investment promise to get favours from the regime but with no intention to actually do anything except drive value of land up.
Possible orbital inclinations are even more resticted than from Boca Chica. And lndings on descending node would pass over Dallas/Forth Worth who won't likely be too happy with potential for debris if something goes wrong.

At the Mythic Level Elon thinks he’s a Hero in a Heinlein Novel@MedeaVanamonde @sundogplanets He thinks he's the hero of an Iain M. Banks novel, but if he'd ever actually read one he'd realize he's the villain (and also Banks would have hated him).

When I first came here, this was all swamp. Everyone said I was daft to build a launch site on a swamp, but I built in all the same, just to show them.
It sank into the swamp.
So I built a second one. That sank into the swamp.
So I built a third. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp.
But the fourth one stayed up. And that's what you're going to get, the strongest launch site in all of America.

Well, for the men for who the rules don’t apply, including physics, we’ll find out.
If the ground underneath their launchpads liquefies and renders them useless, at least in someway the damage will be limited though at great cost.
On the other hand, if Elon really intends to convert the rocket engine manufacturing facilities into gasturbine generator facilities, maybe we won’t worry so much about rocket launches
