Wrote a song.

Wrote a song. Lyrics done. Working on structure stuff now. Key, tempo, chords. Roughing it out with the little Takamine acoustic. I think it’ll end up being a 16-bar slow turnaround blues thing. E, A, B7, A7 or some variation. Trying to get the guitar rhythm basics down to fit the vocal cadence of the lyrics. Lots of options. Too many. Try going electric tomorrow. #music #guitar #songwriting #recording

Another evening working on the new song. Got the Melody Maker SG running through the Strymon Iridium. Some decent tones. Gonna try the Danelectro 59 tomorrow night. That Dano middle position is fuller that the single bridge pickup on the SG. Still trying to get the rhythm guitar line sussed to fit the vocal cadence. Slowly figuring it out. May need to switch from 4/4 time to 6/8 to get a shuffle thing going on. Work in progress. #music #blues #recording #audio #guitar #gearsquad

More groove searching on the drum track plugin for this new blues thing I’m working on. I tried 4/4, then 6/8 shuffle. Not quite right for the vocal cadence. Then tried 4/4 shuffle. I think that’s gonna work. Using the free MT Power Drum Kit plugin. #music #recording #audio #drums #songwriting https://www.powerdrumkit.com/download76187.php

@strayhorse MTP is absolutely ballah
I don't really use the loop or loop mixer but it's not because it doesn't work great or sound good, because it does - I just like laying down my own rudimentary beats for some unfathomable reason

@jwcph Yeah, wish I could figure out the midi thing to do my own beats. Ideally, a kit, but I can’t make too much noise in the house. Actually, I was contemplating getting a midi cable for some kind of controller and doing some research on how to do it. But I need quick and easy for getting the song ideas down and recorded. I honestly always wanted to do my own drum tracks. I got an old Korg WaveDrum. Maybe I should play around with that.

@strayhorse I got myself an Akai MPK Mini, specifically because its 8 pads were said to be good
I'd love a kit, too, seems like fun, but I also have the noise issue - I think modern digi kits are pretty silent but the kick will always involve stomping & it would drive my downstairs neighbors insane
But yeah, MIDI gets complicated very quickly - for now I've resigned to mostly just use default setrings. Relatively speaking MTP is one of the easier ones for MIDI mapping though
