How about contacting the guy whose name is plastered all over the site or one of the team instead of spreading FUD because of a standard practice domain registry privacy default that’s there to reduce spam/scams?

Seriously folks, do better. People are suffering through a genocide. Don’t make it even harder for them because you can’t take two minutes to understand what you’re reading.

@aral we're getting relatively much spam reports here as well.
Resolving them is not a problem. But we're seeing an increase in those reports lately -

@aral @fanta My friend, I wish you happiness, peace, and tranquility. I need to understand a little, as my account was restricted. My only connection to the outside world is the Mastdon community. My goal is twofold: to convey our daily struggles to the world and to help my family survive by providing food, clean water, and treatment for my mother, who is suffering constantly. We can do this through donations, as we have no other source of income. Please help me understand how to do

@Layan2002 Salam Layan,
you are included in this list of people in need because you had the video call, therefore people who can donate will see that you're in need even if you don't post anything.
https://gaza-verified.org/donate/
Of course you may and should post comments. We want to hear from you and help you through genocide.
But in every comment of yours, you mention at least ten people. This makes even the most patient people lose patience with you and report you, unfortunately.

Instead, show us pictures of your daily life. Show the world how the reality of living in Gaza right now looks like. Show us how your life looks like. Try to build connections by telling stories. Try to do this without mentioning people. By connecting with the world, the people will come to you and want to follow you.
I know it's incredibly hard to live in Gaza right now, and you're desperate. But it's against the rules of Gaza Verified to mention random people. And you agreed to these rules. These rules don't exist to hinder you, but to protect you. To protect you from losing your account and to protect the trust that the Gaza Verified project has built so far.
Much love and solidarity for you.
️🫂

@davidculley Thank you, my friend, for these valuable tips. I hope you understand my situation. I've taken on the responsibility of supporting my family; I'm their sole provider. I have no source of income, and life has become unbearable. My mother urgently needs medical treatment, including a debridement and cleaning. She's in very poor health and suffering psychologically. Food and water are also a major problem. We receive no aid or support except for the kindness of friends here.

@davidculley I appreciate your efforts to help us, but simply having my name on the list hasn't brought me any support or donations. I need my voice to be heard, for the world to hear about me and support me so we can continue. This isn't just about me; my entire family is my responsibility. As you said, I share my daily life and our struggles; that's all I do.

@davidculley Instead of receiving the necessary support for a debridement and cleaning procedure, I received a restriction on my account. It was very sad and unfortunate.

@davidculley I'm including as many supporters as possible not to bother anyone—on the contrary, I wish you all peace, tranquility, and happiness—but my purpose is to amplify our voice to the world. You can't imagine the helplessness and anguish I feel whenever my mother is in pain or needs medication that isn't available due to lack of money. It's enough that she lost two babies because of the delayed arrival of the medication needed to maintain the pregnancy.

@davidculley I appreciate the efforts of all my friends in the Gaza community, but I need continuous support to be able to live and survive. It is extremely painful, unbearable, and unimaginable.

@Layan2002 I understand you, but your voice isn't heard if everyone silences you because you bother them with unsolicited messages.
I know you situation is desperate, but how you're currently communicating, you're getting the opposite of the result you want.

If people aren't reacting to you, then the solution isn't to bother them even more. That will only result in them silencing you until you lose your account.
We cannot help you if you get yourself removed from Mastodon.

@Layan2002 Yes, exactly. Your current approach does you more harm than good.

Because people don't like to be mentioned multiple times a day, every day. Unfortunate as that is for you.

@davidculley I would appreciate your patience with this discussion for a little while so I can get my message across clearly and understand the rules better. About a month and a half ago, I wasn't doing any mentions and I didn't receive any support or donations at all. Since then, I've started receiving donations that help give hope to my family. If you could explain how I can differentiate between people who find my posts offensive and those I won't mention, is that okay?
-

@Layan2002 I have a lot of empathy for you and I understand you do this only because you think you have no other choice.
But unfortunately not everybody has as much empathy as I and other good people have. Other people will feel bothered, even if you don't mean to bother them.
And then those people will never donate to you for medications.

@Layan2002 I don't know which people are bothered and which people aren't, unfortunately.

As I wrote here, let the people come to you. If they want to come to you, they will come.
Then you will know the people who aren't bothered.

@davidculley I wonder if these people would feel any remorse if we lost our lives because we couldn't afford food and had to take risks?

I've significantly reduced the number of names mentioned; is that also considered a violation? -

I've significantly reduced the number of names mentioned; is that also considered a violation?@Layan2002 Unsolicited messages are unsolicited messages.

It takes only one person to feel bothered, to report you. So, yes, even with a reduced number of names it's still a violation.
Please remember that this is to help you and protect you, not to abandon you. Mastodon is the last safe place on the internet for you, and if you lose even Mastodon, you have nothing. This is why we want you to be more considerate. Inr your own best interest.
Again, I know your situation is hard. Unimaginably hard. Nobody should be forced to go through this. And you're desperate. I understand. But people who are annoyed by you won't donate to you.

I've significantly reduced the number of names mentioned; is that also considered a violation?@Layan2002 You also have to understand that many people on Mastodon are struggling financially themselves.
There are many good-hearted people who freely give away hundreds of dollars of their own money. They absolutely do care about you and don't want you to lose your life.
But if they cannot donate to you, because they are currently unemployed and don't have an income, then they won't be able to send you money even if you send them more messages.
