Also BTW, this mindset is fundamentally anti-democratic. You cannot act as a responsible voter in a democracy if you only care about yourself.

This is one of the reasons I'm finding that I can't in good conscience consider what is now known as right-wing policy to be a legitimate position in a democracy.

They say it's about having a small, effecient state but what they actually mean is having as little democracy as they can get away with - preferrably none.
