Another great Kes episode. I like this one because I always thought Kes and Tom made a better couple. And it’s great Harry ends up being Paris’s son in law.

@MirrorAyako @startrek By total coincidence, I watched this episode last night. It's a great one that I had completely forgotten about. When I watched Voyager back in the day, I was pretty negative about it. But as time has gone by, it seems like a better and better show.

It’s a solid series but had some defects like other series. My number one complaint about the show are the villains. They really suck. TOS had the Klingons, TNG had Romulans and Borg, DS9 had the Cardassians… and VOY had the Kazon??

The Kazon sucked. As presented, I have a hard time believing they had space flight, even if the tech was stolen.

I like parts of VOY so much, they overwhelm the deficiencies, and overall raise the show in my esteem. It's weaker than it's predecessors for sure though.

@MirrorAyako @startrek Before and After is a great concept for an episode! It ties so much together . . . such as hinting at the Year of Hell.

But I just can't get over the scene where Ocampans are revealed to deliver babies . . . out of their backs. What this implies is . . . just too hideous to imagine.

VOY had the Kazon . . . until they got ditched because they're a horrible villain—Oompah Loompah mofos on steroids. Then the got the Borg . . . but made friends with them. Right now, in our DVD watch-through, we're dealing with the Hirogen . . . who are getting kind of Kazon-like in that they are easily foiled.

It's like the writers didn't want to have actual serious villains.
