You have the option of using the 'mute' option to quietly ignore any new posts of an individual user. There isn't a 'mute all posts from sites hosted in an entire country' <I think.>
Mastodon is an evolving software package and that might be introduced in a later version. I would personally regret to see that. -

@vcallinan No worries. St. Patrick wasn't Irish either. Canadians always welcome here. BTW ice hockey was invented by Irish immigrants to Canada who tried playing hurling* (ancient Irish sport) on ice.
