For those of you out there who meet all three of these criteria:
* left handed, and
* have handwriting that's more eccentric than usual (by your judgment), and
* have a Remarkable (any model)What are your experiences with the device? Like? Hate? Collecting dust? Invaluable?
Enquiring minds want to know, ideally before the end of the week.
Boosts welcome! Advice beyond what's requested is not! Many thanks! Exclamation point!
@vmbrasseur It's... fine? I don't use the handwriting recognition. Leftie use is ergonomic for me.

@vmbrasseur it’s fine, and there’s a preference to move the UI to the opposite side for lefties. Do note that handwriting recognition happens *off device* so it requires a network connection to work and is a bit slow.

@vmbrasseur As long as I can define "more eccentric than usual" as "straight up bad", I'm surprised at how much I like mine. I don't use it every day, but it's my most used note-taking device in meetings.
The left-handed mode seems to work fine for writing and drawing. I've never noticed any weirdness there.
The handwriting search isn't a big part of my workflow, simply because I keep forgetting it exists (since it didn't exist for most of the time I've owned the device), but it's pretty impressive with my chicken scrawl. I've attached an excerpt from my FOSSY notes, and it seems to be able to find all the words in there (eg "Drupal", "Ecosystem", "cryptography").
So: not "invaluable", but a solid "like".

@vmbrasseur it's okay. Left handed UI setting helps. I've never used or wanted the handwriting recognition features.
I would use my remarkable 2 much more if I could copy PDF files over USB.
I don't think I'll buy another. -

I don't think I'll buy another.@shapr @vmbrasseur I've heard the main problem with all the Remarkables is the closed ecosystem. Pity, because they appear to be quite nice hardware. Has anyone made progress jailbreaking them?

@vmbrasseur I had one for a while and sold it. I found the UI just too slow (eInk problems) and frustrating. If they could do something about that, then maybe I would get a smaller one. Recognition was okay (my writing is pretty terrible) but the closed ecosystem makes it less compelling.

@vmbrasseur I fit 2 out of 3 and am considering a reMarkable so consider me subscribed to this thread

@Offbeatmammal @vmbrasseur still closed ecosystem, but you can own your ecosystem: https://github.com/ddvk/rmfakecloud

@xabean @vmbrasseur that's really smart, wish I'd have known about it before selling mine, would have been fun to explore.

@vmbrasseur
I use my reMarkable a few times a week. It's really handy for off-computer writing and in irl meetings.I'm a leftie and often write in shorthand, and it does a decent job of capturing everything. It's not as nice as writing on paper, but it's much nicer than typing to get things down quickly.

mostly collecting dust, every so often I get it out again and use it for a few days before shelving it again. I think it was a pretty solid device and (for once) nothing about being a lefty got in the way.
I just never found a good use for it, I find it easier to type my notes and I learned for reading I either would rather print stuff out or use my laptop screen.
