Hire Italian postdocs, they'll make Tiramisu!
(French folks did make and bring crepes... So hire French postdocs, too!)
@vicgrinberg o wow, but this cacao powder design! chef's kiss

Would it be rude to print this out and put it on the office doors of our Italian (and French) postdocs?

@vicgrinberg Next stop, is French or Italian fondue better? (Wars have started over less)

@vicgrinberg That’s one thing I really dislike about my field of work: hardly international at all.

This happened to us once too. We had an Italian intern who visited upon us a hand-made tiramisu.
I think it is a requirement in their passports.

@vicgrinberg Jupiter bottom right and Saturn top left....Enceladus top right with the plumes? Titan bottom left in keeping with the planet/moon balance and atmosphere?
@_thegeoff @vicgrinberg I'm wondering what Internet Explorer is doing there in the middle though
-
@vicgrinberg I work at a radiology practice. Our interns are from Poland and Egypt; we have piroshki and baklava right now.
@zynmaster @vicgrinberg I think they cheated you out of the good stuff, ask for "Romoosh el Set"
-
@vicgrinberg Cool!
Now I want tiramisu, but getting a PhD seems like a very roundabout way to go about it?
@slothrop but worth it!

@_thegeoff heh, possibly. Also, ESA had a mission to Titan (Huygens probe of the Cassini Huygens fame) and we are planning one to Enceladus! https://www.science.esa.int/web/cm25/l4-to-enceladus

@vicgrinberg If you are interested in what other countries to consider: our postdoc brought avocados from his parents' garden in Chile.
@mengel oooh, lovely! Fresh good avocados are amazing!

@brunthal possibly? But also possibly worth it

@vicgrinberg @DanielleVossebeld Leave it to the Dutch to bring in the stroopwafels
@sandorspruit @DanielleVossebeld those are a bit trickier to make at home than tiramisu, or at least require some extra equipment

@vicgrinberg A former student of the school I work for does satellite/probe comms for the ESA, he's done in-person and remote chats with students over the last few years, very cool stuff. Last time he just randomly called over one of the JUICE team for a few questions.

@zynmaster @vicgrinberg I work alongside Turkish, Romanian, Hungarian, Bulgarian, Polish, Syrian, Kurdish, Portuguese and German colleagues. Our celebrations are culinary extravaganzas.
