I'm bringing back greeting people in the streets. I have thus far good-morning'd 6 unsuspecting folk of my local community and have achieved a 100% hit rate. I cannot be stopped. I am the friendly neighbourhood....Goodmorning-Man. Goodmorning-Man, Goodmorning-Man. Does whatever a goodmorning can.

@TheBreadmonkey We’ve tried out here in Arizona but people stare at you as if you are nuts, then look away. But I’d be happy to get such a greeting from you. Wave away!

@TheBreadmonkey I used to do that, but one day a person stopped and embellished their good morning with some more words as if they were expecting a conversation now and I couldn't cope with that so I've gone back to doing a nod and a mumbled "Hi", but only IF I am spoken to first, otherwise it seems it can get complicated fast.

@cobalt123 @TheBreadmonkey I had a neighbor one street over yell at me when I said hello. I was so astounded! The only thing I can think of is that she thought I was just some jerk going to spend money locally on Melrose, one block up. Some townies really hate tourists and hipsters, I guess, and maybe this lady thought I was one or the other.

@TheBreadmonkey @spanghero It's as good a representation of it as you can do in text I think, although I believe it's the pitch of the sound changes from a higher to lower tone as the source of the sound approaches then passes the observer and recedes.
But I'm not a sound person... or scientist... either.

For your ears to detect this effect—called the Doppler effect—the sound source has to be moving toward or away from you at a minimum speed of about 15 to 20 mph (24 to 32 kph). As the source moves faster, the effect becomes more pronounced.

                                  https://www.exploratorium.edu/snacks/doppler-effect

The fastest human ever recorded is Usain Bolt, who reached a peak speed of 27.8 mph (44.7 km/h)
