@Tutanota Surveillance is one thing everyone has always been watching everyone else, it's just that now it's done openly. But I see a different problem here: data is constantly being leaked. I became a victim of a data leak myself, and I ended up spending a year in court over my accounts being frozen due to fraud allegations.

@Tutanota the hard part feels getting people aware of the pure danger hidden within such a ideas, there are various anonymous token systems, that avoid gathering people's personal data, but clearly they don't have everyone's best interest at heart, when you try to infer their intent and actions.

@Tutanota Fact is, it is a parent's job to parent their child. It is not the state's job, nor should it be. This whole effort is a massive red flag. Devices and their operating systems should be largely content agnostic. And at most, equip parents with the tools to manage their kids’ use. And here's the kicker, just don't buy kids devices!!! Then there is nothing to manage. There is no making this surveillance nonsense "safe” once it’s there, it will be used maliciously.

Practical suggestion: reduce rate limits on emails to all EU members, within reason ofc. That enables us to respond to the parliamentarians, as suggestion by several orgs, like Tuta itself (see message above).

@Tutanota The issue here is that the meme is misleading.

A surprising number of MS are in favor of mass surveillance.

It's just that it might not be the right thing to say in public, so you have to camouflage it behind a heroic topic, e.g. "protect the kids".
