) though, now I wonder if there are any truely decentralized alternatives? I initially thought IP addresses were safe enough, but the underlying mechanics (fixed-length + assigned MAC addresses) make that not as decentralized as I thought. -

And if that wasn't clear to you before, hopefully it's clear to you today.
