P.S: Even if you would still be able to use essential features, it does set a precedent for subscription-based OS where you don't own a copy of the OS, that's not really the future of computing we want to be headed to.

Windows 12 reportedly set for release this year as a subscription-based, AI-focused OSQuick question though, in the article they mention **some** features of the OS will be behind a subscription, wouldn't that mean that you would still be able to use essential features?
Either way, the fact existing computers that were designed to run Windows 11 are not going to be compatible with Windows 12 because of the NPU requirement bullshit already makes me glad I switched to Linux, it's like Microsoft knows. Being able to upgrade your operating system without having to buy an entirely new computer is a thing of the past it seems.
