seems like there is some sort of effort to verify accounts on mastodon / the fediverse now@FediTips yes, the rel=”me” method seems simple enough anyone editing html can create a handshake people can trust, but I imagine you need some deep controll check on your links if you don't host the site yourself. Why not make a dns record? are there discussions on this for years already?

there have previosly been post from @Gargron and @FediTips about verifications scams ,
and then there is the W by Anna Zeiter aiming for verification to align with new euro policy efforts. Did @_elena write an article on it?
