...I'm going to point out, yet again, that this should have been common knowledge and disqualifying BEFORE his 2016 campaign...and that we have to wonder why reporters like Maggie Haberman, who brags about knowing absolutely everything about Trump, have made a personal fortune while making sure the public didn't know or care about hard, readily accessible facts like this: 2/2

Also known, and nobody seemed to care, so Maggie may have shrugged.

      > The Trump Organization and Eric Trump, the president’s son, filed a lawsuit in March 2025 in a Florida federal court, alleging the accounts were closed because of Capital One’s “woke” beliefs

I'm always trying to tell everyone about how big banks are so woke but no one believes me

@dcdeejay @dyckron In fairness, when Trump ran, there was an investigation on his finances, first started by Ted Cruz,s people and taken over by Hillary's people. Company was Fusion-GPS and they even hired a british former spy to investigate further and they detailed a huge lot of money laundering by Russians using Trump vehicles. This was significant as it made Trump very dependant on Russians.

Trump was succesful in discrediting all of the damning report by focusing only on a small part at the end which the former MI5 warned was being provided not as fact but rather as indication the Russian saw it important to provide him with this information.

The whole report was then labeled "the pee tape" because of that page and nobody spoke of all the damning information that was factual in the rest of it.

@RoyBrander The difference is Mags would only have to report on a single government press release to confirm Trump's money laundering - as opposed to a layered & complicated investigation that would strain anyone's access, connections, wits, patience and resources.

@jfmezei I hear ya, but no investigation was required for this - it was resolved, on the record and easily accessible to anyone interested, yet under-reported or unreported. @dyckron

@dcdeejay @dyckron Over reported by Fox News who succesfully discredited the whole document into the "pee tape" which they spoke about all the time, and other media were forced to pack off reporting on the "pee tape".

Don't underestimate Trump's ability to discredit. The day CDC/NIH came out with evidence COVID remains active in air far longer than thought (aka: need mask), the media only spoke of "inject bleach" which Trump expertly said to grab all the attention away from evidence.

@jfmezei I would never underestimate his ability to manage the news cycle, but that's not what aim talking about. Are you suggesting this lawsuit is to strategically distract the public about something forthcoming? I think he's just too high on his own supply. @dyckron

@dcdeejay @dyckron No, the lawsuits themselves are just SOP for Trump to do with any bad news about him.

I was responding to the post about why the media/Maggie Haberman didn't do more about money laundering in 2016.
