Pleasant? Sure. Purple? Ofc. Thing in the middle? You bet – same template for almost a decade.

    Is it getting stale?

People can name macOS releases by their wallpaper. Each feels distinct – which is important for more than "looks nice'. Ubuntu ships BIG improvements every 6 months, but shirks the user-facing branding opportunity to communicate "hey, new one" to casuals.

@omgubuntu you can always change the wallpaper. So it doesn’t all really matter?

@omgubuntu who cares? It’s an operating system not a lifestyle choice 😀

@WiteWulf You're replying to a blog dedicated to Ubuntu, that's been "caring" what the distro does since 2009. Reporting on and noting what the distro does, its decisions, its directions – including it's branding – is kind of the whole point of existing 😅.

@omgubuntu Maybe they could offer a less corporate alternative, though I'd keep the corporate one. I can't really picture a Fedora-style space-themed watercolor, and I think Ubuntu manages to keep it simple yet nice.
