@somekindofgarf @markwyner Well, we discourage code submissions that use LLMs, and require all contributors to be able to explain their changes. LLM contributions are not permitted from students or people being mentored in the project.

@markwyner @libreoffice I downloaded LibreOffice over the weekend, and began using it in earnest for work this week. As of this writing, I’m two full days in and have no issues to report. It does everything I currently need it to do.

@markwyner@mas.to @libreoffice@fosstodon.org I remember looking into OnlyOffice and they were hyping AI.
If I run into a use case for it(and an AI with acceptable ethics, that's the hard part), the LibreOffice plugin architecture lets me add some AI.
There's really no good reason to pollute the core application with it. Maybe some use cases could benefit from some tighter integration, but that's a reason to look at the plugin system, not throw a peripheral feature in alongside editing and formatting features. Hey, other plugins might benefit from that too!
So that brief exploration of OO didn't even get as far as a download. -

@johncormier @markwyner @libreoffice Same. Been a few months now and no barriers. Easy interoperability with Microsoft Office docs when needed, too.

@libreoffice I, too, would love to see a no-LLM policy on all submissions.

It is though terribly, terribly disappointing that nowhere in their reasons do @libreoffice cite ethical concerns of any kind.
