@moppedijk start out with hashtags. That is a good idea to find some people to follow. You can also directly follow hashtags yourself to get some more content into your timeline. For example I am following some hashtags related to programming languages I am interested in. But the goal is usually to find interesting accounts to follow for more direct connections.

@moppedijk @FediTips also: boost content you find interesting. It not only increases the reach of the post you are boosting, but also is a good hint for others looking at your account what kind of content you like.
