This is clearly a malfunction & I have two comments on that:
1. don't let them pretend this is fixable; even if there was sufficient incentive, which there's not, building systems like this with no vulnerabilities, flaws or human errors is not possible
2. while errors like this are maliciously exploitable, the harm done by these systems when they work entirely as designed & intended is still much worse - all you have to do is imagine what Flock's camera network is meant for
