PASS THE BONG
@GossiTheDog Used to work at a company invested in the digital twin idea. I think it's mostly hindered by the absolutely huge amount of tedious admin needed from people who really don't want to do it.
The HS2 people were also well into this stuff which says a lot...

@GossiTheDog ah, yes, digital cars for their digital commute to the digital company. What the fuck? Why aren’t people laughing? This is hilarious.

@GossiTheDog He’s making that up as he talks, right? I am well aware of what a digital twin is. This it is not.

@realestninja it’s real
@GossiTheDog @realestninja And that’s the problem. Actually, not digitally.
-
@griotspeak @GossiTheDog Lots of reason, actually. Test optimization options, troubleshooting for errors, simulate changes in the supply chain.
I am not sure, however, that these two know what a digital twin is. -

It's real unfortunately. There are also full transcripts available on the whole thing and ugh, wouldn't recommend reading that to anyone if you want to remain sane.

@GossiTheDog Is this a really stupid way of saying that people will build cars as well as software for the cars?

@GossiTheDog what is the networking analogue to a car? There isn’t one. You won’t fucking steer or manually navigate a network. The network transports your packets and routes them for you. The nearest physical analogue is a rail network—which might be why tech-bros don’t like it.

@GossiTheDog As a German, I feel reminded of German hip-hop group Die Fantastischen Vier, who wrote, back in 1995:
Du bist doch weg, Alter
Du brauchst Bewegung und sonst nix("you're just gone, dude, you need some exercise, that's all")
