This is what Twitter / X did. It started out with real people sharing things they thought interesting, then added charities, corporations / brands, institutions, public offices, ads, bots and AI... It is now slop.

Ich würde aber nur folgen, wenn mich die Themen interessierten. Die EU-Institutionen fühlen sich für mich fern und abstrakt an. Ihre SoMe-Kanäle sollten klarer und greifbarer machen, was die EU für jeden Menschen bedeutet. Verlautbarungen von Politiker:innen und Hochglanz-PR fände ich uninteressant.

We have more than enough representation from North America and Europe. I'd rather see the Fediverse expand into Asia, ideally in communities where English speakers can easily join in.

@hpod16 There r important topics in the present & near future, that need excellent communication in a lot of channels.
For example, US influence in European politics and EU institutions. What Trump calls woke suddenly might have no more bank account due to ties of European banking systems to American finance. Or look what happens to the International Court.
We need working strategies to prevent this toxic influence. Good communication is part of it.

@hpod16 I would love to have a live-Analytics channel, that gives indications about in which direction a day/week has steered.

E.g. there was a vote for laws - does that mean better support for regenerative energy or fossil fuels - all fitting in a toot

Or another week has passed - is there more potential for better train traveling, or were there decisions made that give advantages to cars?

In the best case these information are already available and therebis no additional work for you

@hpod16 Actually the state of the union is a good example. There were numerous topics of relevance. I wanna see how the EU institutions and canada will fill the term "associative membership" with meaning. How defensive cooperation will advance and how the digital regulatory framework gets enforced and how it will advance with the new kids act (while also get a deeper understanding how different councils, committees, politicians, parties & countries influence the development of such policies)

In general, sure, I would like EU institutions here.

But if they are just one-way advertisement posts, I don't care and quickly mute those accounts. I don't need equivalent of spam mail into my fedi stream, I had enough of that in bsky and Twitter.

@hpod16 No, I want institutions to communicate through channels that are reasonably accessible to everyone. The best option is a feed on their own website. Any platform that requires users to sign up excludes people.

@eest9 @hpod16 Full Ack! And it should be not a one-way thing, i have the opinion, that they should interact more with their audience here.

And also Q&A-Sessions with members of the parliament, the administration or even the SM Team would be cool. The austrian newspaper "derstandard" does a similar format, in the form of a text livestream where an invited person answers questions from the community live. Duration is mostly about an hour.
