    @barbra and they're using Oracle shares to do a leveraged buy of Warner Bros too right? It could make for a really interesting domino if the share price gets too low

      @gabrielesvelto

      He (Larry) already has to give a personal guarantee against his own trust fund on one 16 billion loan. One more downgrade and it's junk status.

      Of course, there will be those who will say "but on the dip! Big opportunity!" Hope they lose everything . My guess is broadcom will buy the husk.

        @gabrielesvelto Will we see Ellison flayed by investors to get something of value out of him? Hmmm…

            @gabrielesvelto Oracle's flagship database is a hideously complex piece of Ghosa which keeps hundreds of thousands of DB engineers needlessly employed.

            The task which takes =~ 10 lines of code on Oracle AND MUST BE EXPLICITLY TESTED takes 1 line in PostgreSQL and works every time. Ugh.

                            @spaetz they're not doing fine because compared to the past both Oracle and Larry Ellison personally are heavily indebted. Oracle has debt/equity ratio close to 4 which is insane for a company like that. And all those debts are largely guaranteed by Oracle's share price. Their bonds are just one level above junk-level. If their share price drops more those loans are not covered by the collateral anymore and creditors will start feeling shaky about them. Also they destroyed their cash flow so they can't even buy back shares to prop the price. The only way for them is down.

                                @gabrielesvelto Looks like investors are starting to question if Oracle will actually get paid for all the data centre buildouts they have been doing for the AI companies.

                                    @gabrielesvelto I'm imagining a world where you don't have to ship the entire language version in your .jar file because Oracle has poisoned the ecosystem. Small efficient downloads. It's a beautiful dream.
