@gabrielesvelto Will we see Ellison flayed by investors to get something of value out of him? Hmmm…

@gabrielesvelto Guess they didn't see that coming!

@gabrielesvelto Oracle's flagship database is a hideously complex piece of Ghosa which keeps hundreds of thousands of DB engineers needlessly employed.
The task which takes =~ 10 lines of code on Oracle AND MUST BE EXPLICITLY TESTED takes 1 line in PostgreSQL and works every time. Ugh.

Heh. Coreweave (CRWV) and Nebius Group ( NBIS ) are also tanking. This could be Bad for AI.

@gabrielesvelto At this rate, along with the Paramount/Warner Bros. mess, Larry will likely have to sell the Island of Lānaʻi

@gabrielesvelto Wake me up when TSLA's P/E ratio moves from over 300 to something more like the long term average for the auto industry.

Why celebrate?like even if you hate them for some reason, they are at the same place as 6 months ago, don't see a reason for fireworks.

@gabrielesvelto looking at the longer term, they are still doing fine. But every bit helps....

Thank you Gabriele that is the sexiest photo I think I’ve ever seen.
Couldn’t have happened to a shittier human or a more useless piece of software.

@spaetz they're not doing fine because compared to the past both Oracle and Larry Ellison personally are heavily indebted. Oracle has debt/equity ratio close to 4 which is insane for a company like that. And all those debts are largely guaranteed by Oracle's share price. Their bonds are just one level above junk-level. If their share price drops more those loans are not covered by the collateral anymore and creditors will start feeling shaky about them. Also they destroyed their cash flow so they can't even buy back shares to prop the price. The only way for them is down.

@gabrielesvelto Everyone not named Ellison should celebrate, but holy hell is that price still high.

@gabrielesvelto Looks like investors are starting to question if Oracle will actually get paid for all the data centre buildouts they have been doing for the AI companies.

@Noisecolor @gabrielesvelto No real celebration yet, but a lot of their/Ellison's recent spending has been on the bet of Number Go Up. If Number Not Go Up, they're fucked.

@gabrielesvelto I'm imagining a world where you don't have to ship the entire language version in your .jar file because Oracle has poisoned the ecosystem. Small efficient downloads. It's a beautiful dream.

@maccruiskeen
And then what?
Are you are gambler and are shorting their stock?
@gabrielesvelto -
He (Larry) already has to give a personal guarantee against his own trust fund on one 16 billion loan. One more downgrade and it's junk status.
Of course, there will be those who will say "but on the dip! Big opportunity!" Hope they lose everything . My guess is broadcom will buy the husk.
@barbra @gabrielesvelto If Larry Ellison winds up flat broke I can only think of like 3 people who deserve it more.

@gabrielesvelto Now where are the margin calls that will scuttle the Warner deal.
