Now, the cool thing about the internet is that if you want to publish things that works (or worked) perfectly fine without these so called platforms.

That are more or less a for of digital leeches sucking money out of the economy.

So no I don't see the value here beside that they've captured nowadays most content, so one is forced to deal with them.

Deutsche Telekom charges consumers for broadband access and then also charges content providers for bandwidth to their customers. If you're the platform, nobody can afford not to do business there.

@cmconseils I don't mind. I just hate when I pay and still see ads. It is a company after all with bills and to make profit. It wouldn't exist without profit. I run a Mastodon and peertube instance and if it wasn't for me putting in my own money it wouldn't exist as donations don't always cover the cost.

Companys pay youtube to show ads

Users get sick of the idiotic and annoying crap and find alternatives.

It is a cat and mouse game, shitty alphabet owned youtube blocks the ad blockers and alternative players or methods., workarounds are found. The game continues.

I will not give the btrards even one cent of my money, see the perversely high profits for why.

@cmconseils That’s a pretty common business model these days. As users, we’re partly responsible for it too. The only real way out would be to switch platforms or build new ones, but let’s be honest: that’s not going to happen anytime soon since people don’t change habits easily.
