I didn't compare their beliefs.
In fact, I never spoke of beliefs at all.
I spoke about "leaders" and "conservative politicians".
That's the real problem (always), and religion (or whatever) is always just an excuse.
People who want to get power as "spokespeople" are always bad.

@benroyce @lordkhan @randahl @FrancoisPrague Ironically, the Jewish ultra-nationalist conflation of Judaism with unconditional support for Israel, is among the reasons for growing antisemitism worldwide, because it portrays Jews - a majority of whom in the diaspora are opposed to what's happening in Palestine, Lebanon etc. - as one monolithic bloc who all share some responsibility for apartheid, ethnic cleansing, war crimes and genocide.
In other words, it puts Jewish people everywhere at risk.

as reasonable as your suggestion sounds, unfortunately sustained peace is not possible in that region. best you can hope for is a temporary hault in hostilities, with a new flare up in a few years.

For centuries under the Ottoman Empire, Muslim, Christian, and Jewish communities lived side-by-side in relative stability. Before that there was good coexistance, except when Crusaders stirred shit up.
Coexistance has deteriorated as Zionists started going there.
A sole Democratic state is the solution, not walls and bullets. -

@benroyce thanks for the info. I read her whole Instagram multipost, and I think she makes an unfortunate conclusion when she does not recognize that you can be confronting the Israeli government without being against the Jews.
She is millimeters from accusing Macklemore of antisemitism just because he criticises genocide. In my view, it is HER connecting Jews in general with the acts of Israel — not him — and that is really unfortunate.

the only way forward is for the world to agree on a two state solution, then move in militarily and impose it on either side, then sit there for 50 years, at least
something like intervention in the balkans in the 1990s, then a DMZ like on the korean penninsula
i feel it is the only thing that will work
but that is gargantuan ask of the world to do. and there is little will to do it

Really disappointed in Pink. I expected better from her. I never had much of an opinion on Ed Sheeran or Macklemore, but now I do.

Sheeran was not so much pro-israel as "bowed down to an ultimatum from pro-Israel venue owners".
As much as such moral cowardice should be shamed, we need this light to be shone on Kraft and his ultimatum.
Sheeran should have made noise about it instead of trying to quietly shove the moral person off the tour.

@randahl The real winners here are the lawyers for the tour promoter.
They are going to generate many, many billable hours by suing everyone who breaks their tour contracts.
Everyone else will lose money here - the promoter, the musicians, the road crews, the fans. But the lawyers will have a great Christmas.
It could have been the venues. Sheeran could have stuck with his musicians, let the venues cancel, and sue them while booking other venues. I'm sure there are plenty who would have loved to host him.
