Here is an additional tip for people following this account. 99% of the posts this account makes are boosts, but if you turn off boosts, instead most of our posts are linking you to new punks on BMorePunk.

This account rarely makes other types of posts (like this post).

@grob if we're being pedantic here, there may be people who know how to mute your boosts, but choose not to, and — this message will still reach them ☝️🤓

I'd like to hide stuff *I* boosted. I saw it, I boosted it. Why do I need to see my own boost (or anyone else's boost of the exact same link or toot) *again*? Saw it, liked it (probably), boosted it - for me, I'm done with it.

As a notoriously prolific Mastodon booster, I for one, applaud your publication of this one simple trick for keeping boosts from specific people to a reasonable level in one's feed.
I wouldn't want people to block me 4 being a boostalotopotamus, and withbTHIS tip, they won't need to.
Also, friends know that friends boost mastodon posts to be friendly and to have them seen, too.

I realise this isn't exactly the same thing, but there's a related feature which is on by default where Mastodon hides boosts if you have seen them before.

However, the feature allows boosts to repeat if 40 other posts have flowed through your timeline. This worked ok back in the 2010s when it was really quiet on here, but the number is too low nowadays.

Apparently this number is going to be increased in a future update, so it should further reduce the amount of repeats.

Yes, this feature exists and is activated by default for everyone.

However, it allows a boost to be repeated if 40 other posts have flowed through your main timeline.

This was okay in the days when Mastodon was really quiet, but nowadays 40 is too low for many people.

The developers are apparently going to raise this default number, which will further reduce the amount of boost repetition.

If you're following someone who posts interesting stuff but boosts way too often, you can mute just their boosts:

                                    1. Go to the account's profile page
                                    2. Click the ⋯ button
                                    3. Click "Hide Boosts"

Their own posts will continue appearing in your timeline as normal, but their boosts won't.

@FediTips I wish there was a way to mute boosts in lists but not in the normal timeline, that would be pretty useful

Ah, ok. I am not on mastodon proper, but akkoma. So this might just be one of the things that work differently for me.

                                        Thank you!

Ahh okay... that might indeed do things differently.

FWIW I've tried to have a quick look at Akkoma's documentation and issues but couldn't find out how it handles repeated boosts. Maybe someone involved with the project could help?
