Favourites are the equivalent of likes. When you favourite a post it lets the post's author know you liked it.

I think of it this way: Favorite = Like/Upvote, Bookmark =bookmark/save, Boost = Share

What about Boosts? Where do those fall?
They're shares, they appear in the feeds of your followers.
