This is not a drill.
I think the EC sees this as a trial run for a possible mandatory social media age verification across the European Union. We must pay attention and resist.
This is an existential threat to the Fediverse as a whole (which doesn't have systems in place to comply with age verification).

They should sign up for W. They should join the fellow white supremacists on that website, they should join the EU nationalists on the Certified Aryan Social Network. i do not want them on my fedi they can go away -

I'm surely not saying this is the right answer but if #mastodon is so far more superior, why weren't there more efforts past two years to make it really sustainable. Relying on goodwilling citizens time, effort and money to keep up instances, is not the answer. By doing so, unfortunately, it's doomed to stay on the side, because you know, none of the people I know are here too. The #EU ís, by the way.
