@horqua What you write is consistent with what I wrote. I did not comment on causes of why people on the right vote no matter what, or why people on the left don't. My commentary was on the downstream effects.

Your commentary on age may be a reason why.

    probably.

Kids don't have enough Rolling Stones in their lives...

"You can't always get what you wa-ant...

But if you try sometimes, you get what you need."

They're quick to give up the trying part.. I see this in my own kids all the time. They give up at the first sign of disappointment.

@ShredderFeeder I absolutely agree with you (and of course @benroyce ) on the necessary strategy.

I'm just saying that we can't accomplish this with the exact same "energy" as what people on the right are doing.

We care about policy. We have earnest internal debates on what the policies should be. What the priorities should be. I don't think that can, or should, be changed.

So we have to find our own way to promote voting.

We have to give up caring about policy right now. We have to fix the big problem (Fascism) and then we can get down to actually helping people.

@ShredderFeeder Well, I think that continuing to care about policy is HOW we fix the big problem. Trump is deeply unpopular right now, and we're kicking ass in elections right now, and like it or not it is NOT because of the fascism (not directly, anyway).

Like it or not, Trump is unpopular on policy issues, like the Iran War and inflation. Democrats who are winning elections are winning on alternative policies.

@ShredderFeeder We can absolutely win on issues of policy.

What we need to cut out is useful fool "purity" demands that every candidate must agree with you on every issue (or one particular issue in particular) or we won't vote - helping the Republicans win in order to teach "The Democrats" a lesson.

@isaackuo It’s called putting on grownup pants, stop treating elections like popularity contests, stop thinking any person or party will ever be perfect. It is NOT difficult to look at 2 platforms and decide which one is better and which one is hell no. @benroyce some good truth to it. RUS are strong in taking hardship = it takes a long time until they're fed up & can't endure any more. 1 significant point that tipped them to revolution always was starving. That's the line they draw. They will endure hell as long as they breathe if they are fed. As admirable this is, personally I like the FRA approach much better: don't gimme shit, I am gonna strike you to your knees we are all equal! Now show me your repsect & share the rights we all deserve.
