HELP!
The buttons of people & world above my comment box (advanced interface on browser) no longer work & when selected give me this error message:
“This feed has been disabled by your service administrators”
I can’t access larger fediverse or local feed AT ALL. Isn’t this the whole value of the fedi? It’s not visible in basic interface. is this happening for others?
I’m with mastodon.social. The main one.
Please tell me if it isn’t just me. Am I throttled here too?

#mastodon #fedihelp@JoBlakely I'm on .social but on an app so don't know about the missing feeds. I can see you and your posts though!

#mastodon #fedihelp@JoBlakely perhaps @FediTips may have some troubleshooting advice.

The admins of mastodon.social have disabled the Local and Federated feeds, as they felt they were too much like firehoses to be useful.
Basically, there are too many people on mastodon.social
Other servers allow their users to view these feeds, you might want to consider moving your account to a different server?

@FediTips @AlsoPaisleyCat @JoBlakely Is this temporary or permanent?
I think it's time for me to start seriously thinking of moving to a new instance.

@FediTips @AlsoPaisleyCat @JoBlakely I dont understand, is it a bad thing and should I worry? And should I change instance swiftly?

The Local timeline shows all the public posts on your server.
The Federated timeline shows all the public posts that your server can see from other servers and your own.
The web interface nowadays calls them "Live Feeds".
There's no need to do anything if you don't use these features, but there are other long-term problems with being on mastodon.social: https://fedi.tips/its-a-really-bad-idea-to-join-a-big-server/
