Dear American citizens, whatever you wish more German citizens would have done in 1933, do that now.

it may very well be that we are just not capable, as a species, of doing anything productive about this sort of thing.
are there any cases, in human history, where a society has successfully curtailed the rise of a fascist autocracy?
@saltywizard socialist revolutions, but then most were mined by the US... and people were brainwashed for many years now to the point where they will defend such fascist governments while being victims of it themselves.

if enough of us wrote/emailed/phoned/screamed outside their office to our congressional reps to IMPEACH or face voter outrage leading to being voted out, and kept it up, we could regain our democracy

@libramoon @Strandjunker
I feel the time has come for us to start seriously talking about a prolonged general strike to prevent the unthinkable. Of course voting is necessary, but we don't have the time to wait til November (and risk the fascist-in-chief of sabotaging/denying the results anyway)Get the truckers to stop trucking and block the roads. Get every consumer to stop shopping. Make it so every business is crippled until ICE is abolished, the MAGA regime is impeached, and all wars and invasions stopped.
Now if you think that's a tall order for people, you're absolutely right. Its asking people to completely uproot their lives and it very hard for humans to do that unless its at the dire most need. That's why we're not just toppling what everyone knows is a monstrous government, but that doesn't change the fact that it needs to be done.

@saltywizard yes. every place that is not currently under a fascist autocracy has done that. does that answer your question, or do you have more pointless bioessentialist-coded moping to do?
-
@Strandjunker 1933 was last year. This is 1937 now.
@nazokiyoubinbou @Strandjunker This is correct. #Fascism

@saltywizard Read Rachel’s book Ultra. We were able to do it before. Whether we can do it again remains to be seen. @Strandjunker

Dear American citizens, whatever you wish more German citizens would have done in 1933, do that now.
@Strandjunker perhaps American involvement was never about fighting fascism but just needing a pretext to shoot things.
-
Dear American citizens, whatever you wish more German citizens would have done in 1933, do that now.
@Strandjunker Can't... too divided and dumb down?
-

Europe is compact with dense cities. If DC = Berlin, I'm way over here in Dubai (west coast). I can certainly help protect my neighbors here, but I feel like there's not much I can do to get the attention of the crazy person in DC from several time zones away.
-
Dear German citizens, what ever your grand parents did not do, you can do to stop your disgusting government supporting the genocide in Gaza and the war crime of US/Istael in Iran and Lebanon.
You Germans should take care of your disgusting Nazi Zionist chancellor before criticizing Americans.
The pig told the world that Israel is "doing our dirty work" and that International law does not apply to Iranians.

@faab64@todon.eu @Strandjunker@mstdn.social Having interacted with a few Zionist Germans here, I can attest they still hate being called Nazis.
Because they know.
Deep down.
They are no different. -
Dear American citizens, whatever you wish more German citizens would have done in 1933, do that now.
@Strandjunker
Yes there is no time .... The time is now -
Dear American citizens, whatever you wish more German citizens would have done in 1933, do that now.
@Strandjunker
This day in 1933 the German Reichtag had already passed the Enabling Act which gave Hitler personally the right to pass any law unhindered even by the constitution. It was already game over for any possible german opposition.I don't think the US is quite there yet, is it?
-
Dear American citizens, whatever you wish more German citizens would have done in 1933, do that now.
@Strandjunker

Yes please -
Dear American citizens, whatever you wish more German citizens would have done in 1933, do that now.
@Strandjunker I know the US has a partisanship mentality and cult leader problem, but dammit, how much further can the US Congress keep letting Pax America slide down this greasy pole?
Like 'risks dragging the world into nuclear war' is surely a bridge too far. Surely. Right?
-
@saltywizard yes. every place that is not currently under a fascist autocracy has done that. does that answer your question, or do you have more pointless bioessentialist-coded moping to do?
pointless bioessentialist-coded moping is my love language.

Like in hang them high?
-

@Strandjunker as a German, I have to say that this already progressed beyond 1933 level. There are already camps. There is a police force loyal to Trump. There are attacks on multiple fronts.
-
Dear American citizens, whatever you wish more German citizens would have done in 1933, do that now.
@Strandjunker People will eventually say they were against all of this, but right now I believe the majority are generally in favor of the general thrust of what's happening - even if they object to some particulars.
I lost all faith in my fellow Americans, so I got myself and my family out. It's better than being sent to the camps, when that comes around.

@smeg @Strandjunker I have a "political refugee" as acquaintance
Art Prof from Ohio. He left as it became obvious the demented dan would become president. Good foresight, when he had an address, his children followed. I imagine the brain drain has already started country wide. -
Dear American citizens, whatever you wish more German citizens would have done in 1933, do that now.
@Strandjunker I am afraid that that takes courage, and after having repeatedly exterminated the opposition over the last few Millenia we selected against that in our gene pool.
-

@Strandjunker
But in order for that to happen, some of them would need proper education beforehand in those things called schools to at least grasp a glimpse of the magnitude of what's happening in their country right now and the implications that come along with it...
