We truly live in the thickest era of human evolution. You can forgive the ignorance of our ancestors because they had limited access to knowledge, but now the sheer volume of verified learning at our fingertips is unprecedented. Being so ignorant is a wilful act of self-defeating spite.
@Richard_Littler In Elmo's case, it's also mental illness. He is not well. He's always been an arrogant, mouthy asshole, but by now he's also greatly self-deluded. He really believes a lot of his own bullshit, partly because he's increasingly detached from objective reality, and surrounds himself with people he's conditioned to lie to him (as many very rich or powerful people very foolishly do). He's deeply ignorant, but either doesn't know that (Dunning-Kruger), or tells himself otherwise.

@unkx Some Greeks are apparently outraged by some of the casting, for the same stupid reason.
-
@Richard_Littler - he's do well to produce a 'historically accurate' history of South Africa first. White Dutch Afrikaners subjugating, enslaving and torturing the Black aboriginals.
Doubtless plenty of bizarre in-breeding and hidden sexual activities with 'lesser beings' involved, too.@bazcook I was reading last night about the history of South Africa, most of which I thought I already knew. It's very complicated and hard to follow. But yeah, the last few centuries have mostly been about European subjugation of natives. A familiar story, sadly.

mind you this man is a trillionaire and still refuses to hire actors, writers, and a set crew. -
but is he going to do it in various dialects of Ancient Greek though? (Mel Gibson's "Passion" comes to mind). If it's AI generated junk, it is not going to be historically accurate.
He's a total tosser.
@tribactam I haven't seen Gibson's film, and don't plan to, but I've been told by Bible scholars that it's inaccurate with languages. As I recall, Romans would have spoken a kind of Latin among themselves, and Jews there a kind of Aramaic (not Hebrew), but the common language of that place and time would have been a dialect of Koine Greek.

Musk, thats the lame-o who said he will offer a full-self-driving Tesla "next year" ? And another one for max 20.000 US$ ?
@rincewind Don't forget, he also promised to have people on Mars by eight years ago.

*checks calendar*
No, it's not the first of April.*checks again*
Ah. So, a full length film scripted, shot and cut in 5 months. OK.@petealexharris He believes his machines can do it. Which they might. But whatever they churn out is certain to be garbage.
-
@Richard_Littler also, this guy vows a lot. I wonder why is he still on Earth, though, as he vowed to be living on Mars by 2014
@DoomHammerNG @Richard_Littler Oh how I wish that had come to pass.
-
@JonnyT Now, THAT'S the germ of what could be a truly brilliant satire. A man goes to see Elmo's new film, then has to get back home, upon which he's beset by many challenges, goes strange places, and meets strange people. I'd call in the Coen brothers for this, but they already did Brother Where Art Thou?

@Remittancegirl @Richard_Littler
There are people who got very upset with Game of Thrones when the dragons arrived. Up until then, they thought they were watching an historically accurate re-enactment.
@davidtheeviloverlord @Remittancegirl @Richard_Littler Oooh, now I want an historically accurate Chronicles of Amber! 🤩
-
@Richard_Littler He does know that although the narrative is deeply rooted in real history IT IS FICTION!
@Mediocreman Where, there was a real Trojan War. But that's about it. As with most Ancient Greek tales, it's drenched in mythology that's very far from any kind of objective reality.
-
@Christo_459 I'm actually not sure WHAT he understands anymore. He's increasingly loopy and disconnected from reality.
