    Someone announced in our class last week that men don't cry and for the first time in my life, I publicly hit back and said, "I do". Many in the class were shocked and didn't believe me, so I explained how I've always cried. When I was young, it was secretly but as an adult, I cry when emotion overwhelms me. I don't see it as a sign of weakness anymore. I think it's a sign of strength to accept what your body needs to do and I feel much better afterwards.

      @HardBeingGreen @sjpurrs

      Ues, I agree that's true up to a point, but sometimes a shared sadness is appreciated .

          @sjpurrs Real strength isn’t hiding your emotions; it’s having the courage to own them. ❤️

            @sjpurrs YOU CAN'T BE YOUR TRUE EVIL SELF WHILE CARRYING AROUND HEAVY EMOTIONS! FREE THOSE EMOTIONS! CRY! LET IT OUT! THEN RAGE AGAINST THE SYSTEM! ALL MY MINIONS MUST HAVE MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AND FOREMOST! TEARS ARE A WARRIORS WEAPON FOR CLEANSING YOUR EMOTIONS!

                @TrueNorthSpice @TheZorse I know. I'm a bit overwhelmed by it. You have done as much as I have to keep it going though. Thank you! It seems to have hit a chord. I have to go offline in half an hour because I have a 3hr testing block. Will be interesting to catch up with the discussion then.

                      @sjpurrs depends a lot on culture / nationality - even in 1990s (when I was working as a broadcast engineer for an electronics company which provided equipment to a lot of public service broadcasters worldwide) I learned it was normal for French men to cry during stressful times (due to defective equipment, and errors from France Télécom, and TBH I couldn't even blame them for crying). It was less common amongst Germans and British (but not entirely absent, I remember sportsball player Paul Gascoigne in 1990 because he got a yellow card at the World Cup and it was viewed as a cultural sign that it was OK for British men to cry if they wanted to..)

                      @vfrmedia @sjpurrs There was a long time when British men could cry about football but *not about almost anything else*.

                        @sjpurrs If you haven't already, you should check out Keith from the Great Pottery Showdown. He cries when he sees contestants make something particularly beautiful or overcome a challenge. Unfortunately it's on Amazon Prime.

                          @sjpurrs I got made fun of for crying when I was young (decades ago) I've carried that stigma my whole life. I do, finally, have moments where I can let out escape. Thank you for sharing your experience and stance.

                              @sfringer Thank you for sharing yours. I got made fun of a lot as a kid for doing the same. I learned much later on that it's not shameful at all. It's normal.

                                        Men have always cried. Especially if they found themselves on the battlefields and in the trenches due to their self-overestimation and had to find that their bodies are also injured. Ultimately, they also called for their mother, which is very understandable.

                                          I cried my eyes out when Stoppit passed and the rest of any fliud left me when little Ouchie died. I don't know what I'll happen when any of our four Noobs pass.
