    @paulschoe I would appreciate a scientific source.

        I like your observation that "Being able to see and read a large double-page spread in one go, including illustrations & graphics, really mattered. '

          This is interesting news.

          Swedish education officials are investing heavily again in traditional printed textbooks.

          The national strategy aims to phase out digital devices for children under the age of six entirely, following a drop in international reading assessment scores.

          Research indicates that the physical act of handwriting activates complex neural networks governing motor skills, vision, memory, and language-cognitive benefits that are largely lost on a keyboard.

          @paulschoe Since it uses a slop "photo", maybe don't trust it all that much.

            I don't have one ready. That is why in the first reply I provided a link towards my source for this on LinkedIn.

                @paulschoe Dr. Jared Cooney Horvath's The Digital Delusion has more evidence why analog learning is the way to go.

                      @paulschoe having taken two kids through this ”digital native” era, which basically just amounted to giving them iPads and laptops and believing that would magically transform into relevant tech skills, I’m happy for future parents who don’t have to do pen and paper writing exercises at home with their kids after school. The Swedish school system has, for a long time, been a mess and needed a bit less blue-eyed , ”back to basics” strategy.

                        I don't know and only slightly care. Different countries use different strategies to ensure that children in their country reach their potential. There is no one-size-fits-all.

                        Historical developments and experience determine a lot what method of distribution is used in a country for distributing school materials.
