@forgetpassword yes I know about Mojeek
(its existence), but I should read up on it more. It's interesting.And a bunch of browsers have used startpage as the default when I install them, I'm curious why.
I'd want to know about the Mojeek "story". What makes it unique, what are it's strengths. What is the "business plan"/income stream to finance the operations. And they clearly need a stronger visual identity including the logo/icon. Maybe it'll be my next employer? I can do their visual design and coms
#fedihire There are many nice things about it when giving it a quick look. Also, why do you hear so little about it? How many are they? I need to read up on this.

And for many simpler searches like "recipe lasagne", "opening hours library of Lund" or "European alternatives web site" it doesn't make sense to me.
I use LLMs for coding and prototyping mostly. For "chat" I strongly recommend Le Chat, just like you.

Same here. I still use the good old search engine for food.For technical stuff I usually first try a chat bot though. Unless I know that the information probably is in some reference manual or official guide. (A chat bot can still be better for that. Especially if I have added the manuals explicitly via RAG.)
Most search results are AI generated crap, so I tend to just generate it "myself". Then it usually turns out pretty good.

Yes, you have to find what works for you. I agree that LLMs are useful as a kind of StackOverflow reference (replacement). I like to use @Qwant and @ecosia to support them creating an independent European search index, which they're working on right now.The more users, the more resources, the sooner they get there.

I really like #Apertus too, but its not "cutting edge" and you need to use it via LM Studio so far. But it's European and open for everyone to use.I wanted to create a LibreOffice plugin for Apertus. That would be a dream and offer an alternative for simple office usage instead of CoPilot and OpenAI. Maybe a plugin for LeChat too? But I haven't gotten around to that...

@sigismundninja @leanderlindahl Qwant är ingen metasökmotor då de har ett eget index vilket fungerar bra. Ecosia och Qwant utarbetar ett europeiskt index så även Ecosia kommer att upphöra som Metasökmotor (de använder resultat från Bing). Le Chat Pro är AI och sökresultaten från Mojeek är värdelösa enligt den erfarenhet jag har.

@sigismundninja @leanderlindahl Återigen. Varför skriver två svenskspråkiga till varandra på engelska? Det är för mig obegripligt. Är ni för att använda europeiska programvaror så är det ju rimligt att ni också i huvudsak använder svenska. Annars är ni faktiskt inte trovärdiga och inte seriösa.

Det är också för att inkludera andra även om det finns en praktisk översättningsfunktion på vissa servrar.
Slutligen är det av vana (ovana) eftersom all "chat" på jobbet alltid är 100% på engelska, så det går i bara farten..

@Anders_S @sigismundninja jag reflekterade inte över att vi var två svenskar och tråden, som är på engelska, riktar sig inte till svenskar specifikt. Mitt förslag är att du mute:ar (tystar) mitt konto om det ger upphov till sådan irritation för dig. Jag ser inget orimligt här
Mina barn är irriterande över att jag rättar dem och insisterar på att vi använder svenska ord när vi talar med varandra. De anser att jag "hatar engelska". De skulle ha mycket roligt åt att jag får en släng av samma slev
