Do you want help with using Mastodon or the wider Fediverse?
You can ask questions by replying or messaging, and I'll try to find you some answers
Don't worry if a question seems simple, there is no such thing as a stupid question.
If you prefer to look stuff up yourself, there is lots of help for using Mastodon and the Fediverse on the website at https://fedi.tips (new people might especially like the "Quick Start" section at the top).
@FediTips Search on Mastodon doesn't really work for me, by which I mean that when I search for hot news terms or hashtags that are clearly not one-offs I often get no results or very few. How can I tell if this is an issue with fediverse, Mastodon, my instance, my client, or some interaction among some number of those?

p.s. Just to make absolutely clear, I am a human being!
I do not use any AI/LLMs.

If you're using the official Mastodon app, go to your profile page and click on the # icon at the top of the page to see your followed hashtags.
If you're using the Mastodon web interface, click on ☰ in the bottom right corner and then "# Followed Hashtags".
Third party apps have various interfaces.
There are many hashtags people can use, #FediTips and #MastoTips are probably the most common? (BTW if you want me to answer a question you need to mention me. I don't see hashtags.)

Aww, thank you very much! It's very kind!

It's not your client, it's the structure of a federated network where each instance is properly independent: https://fedi.tips/which-posts-and-accounts-can-i-see-from-my-server/
There are things you can do about it, and things your admin can do about it, I've tried to list them at https://fedi.tips/using-relays-to-quickly-expand-a-servers-view-of-the-fediverse
If you just want to do one thing, follow as many relevant accounts as possible, you can discover them with many methods: https://fedi.tips/how-do-i-find-accounts-to-follow-on-mastodon-and-the-fediverse-how-do-i-find-my-friends
If your timeline is overwhelmed, use Lists: https://fedi.tips/how-to-use-the-lists-feature-on-mastodon

@FediTips Mastodon bots here aren’t even bad, and most of them claim to even be environmentally sustainable.
Yeah, bots by themselves can be very useful. They usually don't use AI/LLMs but instead use human-written software to fetch particular info (for example a weather forecast bot) or interact in a particular way (for example a chess game bot).
I've listed good bots on here at https://fedi.directory/tag/bots

You may be a human being, but by this time, you've also become an institution!
Thanks for doing what you do!

Thank you so much both of you, it's really kind of you, I'm flattered. I'm really happy if the site and account are useful!
