Still hoping to be able to add hashtags to lists, someday. It would be a marvellous way to create a list for, say, computer hardware, or local politics, or your favourite genre of video game, or whatever. I'd love a Linux list, like I have Bluesky, a platform that *will* enshittify soon enough.
I have several tag lists.
Follow a tag.
Click the button and Pin the tag.
Click the arrows.
Click the add more tags button.
There is an option to make a list.
Add more tags.
Move the list to where you want it in your stream.
Some of the apps work oddly.
So you may need to use it on the computer to make and build tag lists.

Like the followed hashtags list?
@EricBono I had no idea this was possible.
Edit: I have done a search, and can't find this. Is it native to Mastodon or an add-on?

@UncoveredMyths I really really want to do this, but I'm not following your instructions. When you say "click the button and Pin the tag," what menu/screen are you talking about, and what button are you talking about? I did a quick search and couldn't find any illustrated instructions, so any help you can offer would be a blessing.

Just default sidebar. You're looking at a different theme here, for the exquisite.social server. Your server may have different settings but default versions typically have these options in a sidebar on the right. This one is from beige.party:

Elk.zone, moshidon, and other 3rd party apps will have this too:

When you click on a tag, it races your screen across to the left.
Click the up and down arrow in the upper right hand corner.
The word "Pin" is under the left arrow.
I am sure @FediTips has a picture set of directions.
If you are using a phone or ipad app, it may be done differently. You may need to use the computer with the dashboard option turned on.

I think Uncovered Myths is talking about the Advanced Web Mode which is something separate to Lists.
Advanced Web Mode has a series of columns shown on-screen and you can optionally add hashtags into a column so that it works kind of like a List. However, it is a totally separate feature.

@FediTips @UncoveredMyths I remember that mode! I turned it off because it was information overload, but I could try it again. Thanks!

@FediTips @UncoveredMyths Hey, there appears to be a limit of four hashtags in the "any" field in a given column. Is that true? Is there a workaround?
I want to create an open-source/tech feed, and five hashtags total just isn't enough.

There's a limit, yes.
The workaround for creating a themed feed might be the Lists feature, you have to follow accounts but you can optionally hide them from your main timeline and just have them on the list: https://fedi.tips/how-to-use-the-lists-feature-on-mastodon/
