Hi!
-
@imaginaryuncle Welcome aboard Liz! I promoted you to a few more hashtags and am adding you to my feed so a few more people can see your profile.
@BakerRL75 thank you! I appreciate that!

@imaginaryuncle Welcome back to the Fediverse! Hope you're able to find what you're looking for.
I'm a film fan myself. I wonder if you might have a favorite movie?
@Immy hello! my favourite film of all time is The Shining. I’m a bit of a horror buff. Honestly I like so many movies that even The Shining is a qualified choice. What’s your favourite?

Hi! I’m new here. I’ve tried Mastodon a couple times but maybe third time’s the charm! I have become increasingly disillusioned by mainstream social media and I’m searching for ways to connect with other people outside of an algorithm.
I teach high school English and I read a lot. Currently at book 92 of a read around the world project. I was a teen in the 90s and still trying to keep my grunge phase alive. I love art and film too.
Hope to meet some likeminded people!
@imaginaryuncle Welcome, Liz!

Welcome! I'm still new here as well and remember the 90's with great fondness. I've added another few tags that may apply to your #introduction.The world needs more teachers, it's one of those professions I've always respected. Thank you.
I hope some people latch on to your introduction. There have to be some #90s #GenX'ers around.
@rustyferris thank you for your kindness! I wish more people respect what we do like you do!

@jztusk I’ll up my hashtag game! Thanks for the tip!
Emphatic 2nd!
Follow the #HashTags of the things that interest you.
Also, when you post them, please #CamelCase them. It makes them much easier to parse, especially for those who might rely on a #ScreenReader
Cheers eh!!

@imaginaryuncle@masto.nu Welcome! Glad to have another teacher and non-tech-worker here. My standard advice to fediverse newcomers is in the quoted post.

@imaginaryuncle Hello! Former teacher here (long story). Also a typically voracious reader that has been going through some things that slowed my book count. I have a feeling that will be shifting soon. Whew! So, anyway ... Welcome!

@ericmpaq I’m at country 92 now! So too many to list. I just finished my book from Moldova and started Sri Lanka today.
@imaginaryuncle Which country was the best to read in?

@imaginaryuncle i’m with you, my friend. I have been banned from/chased off of basically every mainstream platform by people who are either too scared of Trump, or trying to impress him.
This place is kind of my last stand as far as my Internet presence goes.
May we both find what we are looking for here.

@imaginaryuncle fellow INFJ here! welcome!
@sans_serif_girl I just read your intro post… are we twins???
-
hello fellow Grunger.
I went through both a grunge and a goth phase. I think there are lots of us here in that age range with I bet similar interests. Hope this time it works out.
@chu I also went through the grunge and then a goth phase!! I can see how they both are really cousins.. I’m a Cantonese speaker too btw. But really rusty,

Welcome!
Keep in mind hashtags are everything here. For example, I like #Music, especially #PinkFloyd. I have two #Cats and of course I follow the hashtag #caturday. I live in the #USA and I am #Retired from a career in #tech
Here you can also follow hashtags like you follow people! This is how things show-up in your feed.

@imaginaryuncle We’ve reached critical mass.
Welcome (back)! What are your most memorable books so far and which places do you still need titles from?@ayl Hi! The Covenant of Water (Ethiopia) and Hungry Ghosts (Trinidad) are a couple that stood out. I’m reading Reef (Sri Lanka) now and really enjoying it. I’m still struggling to find an Israeli book that I can feel good about reading.
