@troublewithwords this is very bad because AI is trained on Reddit and Reddit is full of people who are very confidently wrong about electricity and it will tell people that thousands of volts is fine at low amperage

Data centres use both high voltage *and* high current, often 800V DC. this has all sorts of "interesting" differences with regard to arcing compared to AC, and is then converted to 48V for the racks at high current (so still a risk of arcing *and* fires)

@troublewithwords There are big differences between terminating low voltage (480, 600V) and medium voltage (4160V, 7200V, 13.8kV) cables. Low voltage you strip back insulation and land, maybe connect a crimped on connector. Still requires being skilled and knowledgeable.
With medium and high voltage, there are a number of additional steps required to terminate. Stuff likes cable shields, semiconducting (as in isn’t totally an insulator) layers, building up insulating stress cones, understanding why you need to do stuff certain ways, things like that.
That’s just looking at the most boots-on-the-ground stuff.
