I made it about halfway through The Martian and its protagonist’s insistence that everyone finds him funny despite no supporting evidence.He said something about some scientific term and then decided to rename it pirate ninjas (funny, see?). I thought, “jfc I’m gonna see fifty occurrences of the phrase “pirate ninjas” on the next page, aren’t I?I glanced at the next page, then shut the book forever more.
