    @FediTips It was sixteen hours ago, so I can't find the posts. But I remembered the name and went looking, and found the user whose posts had me thinking about this. I was about to paste it here when I saw it was a mastodon.online account. I'm certain the boosts I saw were from a bluesky-bridged account from the same user. Could that have something to do with it? Same post origin point also has a Masto account which is not blocked?

    @ZenHeathen

    If it's a post from a Mastodon account, it wouldn't be affected by blocking the bridge.

    Perhaps you previously saw the same user's Bluesky account bridged, but they have an identical unbridged account on here?

    Not everyone uses bridges to post on multiple platforms. Some people use social management services like Buffer etc to post the same content on many different platforms. These aren't bridges, they're just automating the process of posting separately on separate platforms.

        @FediTips No, I am absolutely certain the post I saw was a boost from that user's bridged account. I just can't find that accpunt now, perhaps their individual block is finally working, now that I unblocked and reblocked last night. But it should still come up in searches, right?

          @patricus So did I. I specifically went to check that last night. Went to block the domain, saw "Unblock domain" in the menu because I'd already done it. @FediTips

            @FediTips Ah! Searched again, half an hour later, and this time it came up!

            This is the account that made me think of this, with some spaces added:
            @ brenttoderian.bsky.social @ bsky.brid.gy

            I have no problem with this user or his posts; I usually agree with him. He's just the example of a boosted post that came to my feed yesterday that I think shouldn't have.

            I'm on Tusky right now, so I can't see domain blocks, but it does show that I have bsky.brid.gy muted, so even if it were only that, I shouldn't see those posts, right?

              @Billie

              Does it say "mute domain"? If so it may be the same option with a different name.

              Blocking domains is not quite as powerful as a block but more powerful than a mute, so there is some disagreement over which word to use.

                  How to block Bluesky from Mastodon:

                  1. Go to the profile page of the account @bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy
                  2. Click ⋯
                  3. Click "Block Domain" to stop seeing Bluesky accounts
                  4. Click "Block" to prevent your own account being bridged to Bluesky

                  You may need to copy-paste @bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy into the search box on your server to make the profile appear.

                  If you can't find the account @bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy, your server is probably already blocking the Bluesky bridge.

                  @FediTips man blockiert natürlich „nur“ die Brigde, denn eigentlich sind das Fediverse und bsky getrennte Netzwerke, die nichts miteinander zu tun haben.

                    @jorgecandeias

                    I had several people ask me how to stop bridging, because they had bridged a while ago and didn't know how to stop it.

                    Also several people asked me how to stop seeing bridged posts.

                    So, I've posted instructions on how to do both these things.

                    @FediTips But to stop bridging people just need to unfollow the bridge account. They don't have to block anything.

                      @jorgecandeias

                      The official instructions on the brid.gy website say the following:

                      "How do I opt out and remove my site or account?"

                      "If you're on the fediverse or Bluesky, and you've opted in but now want to opt out, block the Bridgy Fed bot user for the network you want to opt out of. For example, on the fediverse, block @bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy"

                            @FediTips Oh. OK. It wasn't like that when I checked it back when I joined the bridge; you'd just need to unfollow the account and bridging stopped, or at least they said so. I guess they found out the process was flawed and decided to go for a more radical and bullet-proof alternative? Dunno.

                            So yeah. Sorry. My bad.

                                @FediTips @patricus Only problem with that is if there are people who aren't offiliated with US government bullshit that use Atproto platforms like Leaflet, but they wanna use BridgyFed to make their content show up for those on the fediverse, you'd be missing out because they might use brid.gy. This is the sort of problem when blocking entire instances based on things like being part of Atproto, just because the head of Bluesky is openly welcoming some fucked up shit like ICE that doesn't mean we should start cutting the entire Atproto circle off.

                                    @patricus @FediTips The platform isn't made by Nazis, its just the specific people are promoting controversial figures.

                                          @patricus @FediTips No, they agree with some idiots who wanna run the US into the shitter. The protocol itself isn't run by nazis, its just that Bluesky, the specific instance, bsky.social, is letting a bunch of idiots like ICE run their shit on there. People can block those specific people, but blocking an entire service that federates Atproto with the Fediverse is a bad idea, because there are good people on Atproto and you're basically saying fuck you to them because they use a different protocol.
