@patricus @alexchapman @FediTips It's a very narrow type of thinking. And also it actually has dictatorship smell to it: "that platform is bad, move here! Now!!" — different people can have different reasons to be here or there, starting from comfortable apps and close friends on a platform and ending with simple habit. My first and foremost reason to stop using Twitter was that third-party apps stopped working, that's it. And I still miss many people from there. If musk is a dickhead, it doesn't mean millions and millions of other people using the platform are.

@menelion @patricus @FediTips Exactly, like this whole sentiment from a lot of the big names in the Fediverse saying oh these people who are the CEO of this platform or this protocol promoted this person or that, its just ridiculous at this point, saying that just because certain people are doing stupid stuff we should abandon the platforms and/or protocols is only making the situation worse, we should be about people, not platforms and protocols, this needs to stop or the fediverse will continue to look like a bunch of randos who try to push specific ideologies on to its users. This is one of the reasons why the fediverse hasn't been taken seriously in the mainstream.
-
@FediTips Seriously, that doesn't make a lick of sense.
You're not blocking Bluesky (you can't, it doesn't communicate with the Fediverse), you're blocking the bridge.
What is the purpose apart from virtue signaling? If a Fediverse account is not bridged, no one on the Bluesky side can see it.
Bluesky accounts bridged into the Fediverse allow them to be seen on the Fediverse. If you don't want to see a Bluesky account in the Fediverse, don't follow any. As simple as that.
-
@FediTips Some Anglos find me patronizing when I disagree with them.
️ Are we having a discussion in good faith, though? I'm not so sure. You're not really answering any of my questions. And more often than not answering beside the point (I'm talking about Bluesky and you reply ICE, for example)
"Honestly? Yes, blocking servers is not something that should be done except with rare exceptions."
No one is entitled to my time or my attention. If I decide I don't want to interact with a person, an instance, or an entire government on my socials then that's my prerogative. And it isn't subject to other ppl's approval.
On our instance, we defed based on our shared values. Platforming fascist thugs who have been using official govt accounts to spread propagandic lies is definitely against what we stand for. Defedding a bridge to that platform keeps that trash off of our timelines. If ppl don't like our approach or our decisions, tough.
On your "no one gives me the answers I want to hear" nonsense:
YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO ANSWERS
Gods and goddesses, how is this difficult?
-
@alexchapman@tweesecake.social @FediTips@social.growyourown.services that is a solution, yeah. but IDK if #snac2 can do user blocking on instance level. because I am inviting friendos over here soon so I am supposed to get the instance as safe as possible.

Individual servers being able to defederate is at the very core of the Fediverse.
It's what gives the grassroots servers real power. It's something no other social network offers.
If you want networks where defederations don't happen, maybe you would prefer a centralised service?
