you just know 'labour' will use this information to round up 'illegals' if they get in power (by election or corruption)

Life finds a way
@vowe I knew someone who had a beard at 15, never got asked for ID when buying alcohol.
-
These young people give me hope for the future.

@vowe if a cosmetic pencil is all it takes to bypass the process, then can't be a good process to start with. Also reminds me of how kids used Google Docs to bypass social media restrictions and secretly message their friends. Kids will always find cleverly simple workarounds

@vowe when i was 14 i had a goatee, the drinking age was 18 so i bypassed age verification back in the 80s, nothing new....

@vowe I can't believe it's not TheOnion

@vowe that checks out: certainly, the verification uses AI, and if it is trained on data, where a specific feature (lets say, a moustache) is linked to a specific age category, the AI will detect it as that age...
-
So, girls, paint a few streaks of hair, white, or draw some wrinkles.
@Sassinake idk mustache sounds easier even still

@vowe The kids are all right

Haha! Sure does, always!

you risk being sent the Gender Police then.

@vowe Whaha love this

Life finds a way
@vowe Where there's a will, there's a way to subvert it...

Somewhat restores my faith in youth. -
Life finds a way
@vowe It reminds me of my grandmother who got a discount at the cinema by wearing a long coat and sitting on her sister's shoulders (she was a tad on the short side). No matter the era, children will always find a way.

Life finds a way
@vowe@social.heise.de This is probably the first time in history that young people have rapidly found a way to bypass measures put in place by adults to restrict what they can do and shared it amongst their peers. -
Life finds a way
Good for them! I have high hopes for their future creating problem solving skills

@vowe original report and the context, apparently:

@vowe
part of the evolutionary act of mimicry for survival that has translated in humans to all forms of art, and acts of subversion. One must wonder where for each child the line of wise restriction and the necessity to break the locks preventing them from greater existential truth is?
