Speaking of leaving Microsoft: Yes, we have an entire team of professional IT supporters at work, trained for MS products - so that's great, right?

Speaking of leaving Microsoft: Yes, we have an entire team of professional IT supporters at work, trained for MS products - so that's great, right? The system works! Take that, open software!
- except about half the times I'm up there, they can't help me & I just have to live with whatever problem I have, which at present is about a dozen mission-critical flaws I have to navigate solo.
But do tell me more about how MS is the stable, reliable professional choice...

@jwcph No one was fired for going IBM, or Microsoft, but perhaps they should have been?

@madengineering @jwcph And then add the ongoing ensloppification where even Microsoft's own engineers probably can't help you because they've been fired. -

@JWcph, Radicalized By Decency back in the days i had lots of "friends" who mysteriously never wanted to meet in a pub but first at their homes where they happened to point out some strange problems they had with their computers. still they always told me about their superior m$ computers compared to my nerdy linux systems. that changed when i got sick of this and started telling them to call m$ support for their problems with their superior operating systems.
so many friend lost ...

@madengineering @jwcph IBM seem to be mostly capable.
I just fixed a twenty years old bug where Linux crashes on IBM hardware because the behaviour is different, and I did this by making Linux follow the thirty years old specification, which the IBM hardware implements to the letter.

@GyrosGeier @jwcph IBM has solid technology and engineering, hence the expression that I quoted.
