Be sure to click the box that says you have read the terms and agree. Then in the area where you can type, you will type: mastodon.social, and then login to your Mastodon account. Is this what you did and it’s still rejecting you?

Can you show me what you’re typing into the space so I can better understand what the problem is? For your specific server, it should look like this in order to login.
