@GossiTheDog Back on TinyMUD, I invented the first elevator. You stepped in, and indicating which floor you wanted was the action which instantly transported you to that floor. This was a big improvement (I thought) over the stairwell pattern which had you take an action for each flight of stairs you wanted to climb. When TinyMUCK was released, people began coding elevator simulations that you had to wait for with travel time taken. 30+ years later I haven’t yet puzzled that one out.
