@fesshole I have friends in their 70s and 80s who regularly go to galleries and gardens and ‘accidentally’ wander into ticketed areas. Sometimes they’re accosted, in which case they feign ‘oh sorry, we didn’t realise’ and overplay the doddery old dear act before paying their way, but don’t be fooled, they absolutely know what they’re doing! I can’t get away with it just yet (I’m 47), but I’ll be learning from the best until I can

In most cases it's been presented as a question & the intent is honest. I also live in Alaska where we will offer advice from our own expertise.

I was a carpenter in the bush, I'm also pretty well broken up & it's obvious. If I'm in Lowes & someone looks confused I will offer from my experience.

The only people who appear offended are those new to Alaska & probably who could really use what we offer. Alaska requires skill in many & varied situations.

This is an interesting place to live. I've been here over 50 years. We never know what's going to happen next. Fishing for rainbow in a quiet stream, turn around and be nose to nose to a moose who had tiptoed up very very quietly. 8*)
