I just acquired an HP Elite X2 1011 G1 (what a mouthful) laptop/tablet/hybrid thingy, and obviously I won't be running Windows on it. Unfortunately my two favorite OSes refuse to run on it. The OpenBSD installer restarts halfway through booting, and Void Linux installs but refuses to boot from internal storage, whether installed in UEFI or Legacy mode.
Mobian boots and runs on it, and the Plasma Mobile version is pretty damn awesome, but I prefer something lighter than Debian for the long term. I've also tested Chromium OS by way of FydeOS and it works quite well, but that's not a long-term solution since Google will soon be sunsetting Chromium OS in favor of Aluminium.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a more permanent lightweight touch-friendly OS? My plan with either OpenBSD or Void was to install KDE Plasma as I've found it to be the most tablet-friendly major DE. Gentoo crossed my mind but I don't want to run the thing three days straight while it compiles everything, though I might try Calculate Linux for a precompiled Gentoo base. All suggestions are welcome, and yes of course I will be trying out Haiku on it at some point just for the fun of it! It officially supports booting from SD card so I have that option for dual booting and testing; that's what Mobian is installed to and booting from now, though the internal SSD will be used for the eventual permanent OS for speed and reliability.
