BTW this is exactly why I deleted the app & ported my one important contact, my daughter, to Signal when the AI button appeared in Messenger - I harbored no illusion that I could opt out.

I also harbor no illusion that they aren't spying on me anyway, but I wasn't going to make it even easier for them.
Once more for the back row: BIG TECH DOESN'T DO CONSENT!
