@slothrop It looks to me like Lapierre joined Proton's 'influencers' programme (https://proton.me/partners). The most charitable interpretation is that Proton perform no real vetting on the 'influencers' who apply and are unaware of their content. That charitable interpretation is bad enough. The less charitable interpretations, of course, are that Proton don't care about or even endorse their content. Needless to say, even the most charitable interpretation is unacceptable.

@slothrop @nileane I see. Can you recommend any reading I can reference in a support ticket, while I see how they respond?
I have already paid ahead for a year so, even if I swap today my money is already in their hands for services I paid up front for. I would prefer to pressure them by threatening I can take my money with me on my next payment date, rather than silently leaving without explaining why.

@tempusfelix @slothrop For now, Tutamail. Mailo also seems ok, but tbh, being a non-entity doesn't necessarily mean the company is fine, just means there's currently no evidence of fascism

Sure, RiseUp is very good, and much more trustworthy¹ than Proton.
They're not playing in the same category.
But Riseup is invitation-only, and from what I've been told, they don't provide new tokens (to invite people) anymore.
It's not a general-purpose resource like Proton is, but a (very useful) service dedicated for militants.¹note though that their privacy canary is dead; I understand why they don't put a new one on, but it's still a problem

@alice @slothrop Yeah, unfortunately they had some bullshit around vocally supporting Trump and the christofascist GOP early last year. They got butthurt for getting called out on it and decided to "refocus [their] social media efforts" which meant slumbering their fediverse account.
I canceled my Proton Founder's subscription and moved over to @fastmail specifically because they supported more private domains. I've been very happy with the service.
The other recommendation I always see floating around is @Tutanota but they only documented 10 private domains when I was looking
