how to label #vegan cafés in #openstreetmap ?
if a café is 100% #vegan, should it still be labelled #vegetarian, like café kaf in this screenshot from #organicmaps ?
all the dishes and cakes at the café are accessible to vegetarians (because they are vegan), but there are no #nonvegan #vegetarian options, e.g. with cheese from breast milk from cow or goat or pig.
some vegans prefer fully vegan cafés, so should the #vegetarian label be removed here? (and for other similar places?)

@pelle Well, if it is vegan, it is also vegetarian. Just because it doesn't offer full range of ingredients that particular vegetarian might like, doesn't mean it ain't vegetarian.
Thus, `diet:vegan=yes` implies `diet:vegetarian=yes`, so the latter does not need to be specified (but it is also not an error if it is specified).
I were adding diet tags, for such vegan-only case I'd add just the `diet:vegan=only` tag, to encode most amount of information.

makes sense. i downloaded #vespucci and i can see the tagging options there, but they're not visible in #organicmaps.

@pelle Yes, #Organicmaps had to sacrifice some versatility in order to remain very simple to use (as its target audience are not expected to know what "OSM tags" even are - most of them are not even editors and just use the map in read-only mode for routing etc).
#Vespucci however is made specifically for OSM mappers (and more experienced mappers especially), so it can offer full power of #OpenStreetMap to you.

@pelle for those kind of questions, also always check the wiki, which:
- might provide more details on such nuances
- tells you more about all the tagging options, which cannot be all integrated into/maintained by all the editors

@mnalis @pelle I really don't think organic maps should have a built-in editor, for several reasons.
- There are hundreds of bugs and feature requests that could be closed.
- The very limited dev team would have one less moving part to worry about, and could refocus their efforts elsewhere.
- Streetcomplete, everydoor, and gomap! can all do more than OM-editor. Organic Maps could redirect to these alternatives, to make editing a bit convenient still.
- Notes created by organic maps are hard to solve because users often don't provide enough info. In my experience, streetcomplete notes suffer less from this.

i use both #streetcomplete and #organicmaps for edits. sometimes a shop is closed and i want to correct it, yet it doesn't show up as a quest in #streetcomplete, so then it's nice to be able to correct it in #organicmaps.
you can write bad notes regardless of which app you use.

@mnalis i think i'll ask if #organicmaps can allow searching for `diet:vegan=only` places. thanks for the help.

In #streetcomplete, you can tap a POI in the shop overlay and then specify it as closed, by tapping the three buttons.
That feature is not exclusive to #organicMaps .

@LinusWeidickFrische ok but say they change their opening hours then

https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:diet:vegan@eliasp thanks for that link. helpful info.
i tried to look before but i only found this wiki page which was less detailed: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Item:Q230
> diet:vegan, Whether the establishment offers vegan products.now i wonder whether it's possible to actually search for these #vegan only restaurants somehow, in #organicmaps or #osmand, or whether i should kindly suggest it be implemented ...

@ambiguous_yelp thanks!
someone else pointed me to the OSM wiki where i can see there's a `vegan=only` tag.
https://mastodon.social/@eliasp/114227346253844520
it can be edited in #vespucci. as far as i can tell, #organicmaps and #osmand don't currently display this info so i will open an issue to kindly ask about it.
